The Toronto Autoshow came to an end on February 21. During the show’s 9-day run, the GTI Roadster Concept Car and the 2016 Beetle Dune made their Canadian debuts.

The Beetle Dune takes its design inspiration from the vintage Baja Bugs of Southern California in the 1960s. A powerful 1.8L TSI® engine, and an array of off road features like rough road suspension, a wider track, and protective side mouldings, made this rugged special edition Beetle a hit.

If you’re a fan of the racing game Gran Turismo, you’ll already be a bit familiar with our exciting concept car, the GTI Roadster. Sporting a 503 HP 3.0L V6 twin-turbocharged TSI® engine, this Roadster generated buzz online and at the show.

To help make the Toronto Autoshow more accessible to families, the GTA Volkswagen Dealers sponsored a professional daycare service—the Volkswagen Playcare Centre. Cars and crafts—what’s not to love?

Next up is the Quebec City Autoshow. Swing by the Expocité from March 1-6 as we continue to showcase everything Volkswagen has to offer in 2016.

Montreal Autoshow

The Montreal Autoshow wrapped up on January 24, and what a show it was. With over 196,000 attendees since it opened on January 15, we’ve had the opportunity to chat with fans and show Canadians what’s new with Volkswagen for 2016.

We launched two new models in Montreal: the 2016 Beetle Denim Convertible and the 2017 Golf Alltrack.

The 2016 Beetle Denim Convertible was inspired by our classic “Jeans Bug” introduced in the 1970s. With features like a Stonewashed Blue chassis, Heritage alloy wheels, and two-tone interior with a distinct denim appearance, the Beetle Denim Convertible was an instant hit with old and new fans alike.

2017_SportWagenALLTRACK_Exterior_24The 2017 Golf Alltrack is a more rugged take on the Golf Sportwagon. Its sporty chassis and standard 4MOTION® All-Wheel Drive make this wagon everything you and your family will need to tackle any adventure.

2016_Passat_EL_Front_Exerior_2Attendees to the Montreal Autoshow also had the opportunity to experience the redesigned 2016 Passat. Have a look at the new two-tone leather interior we’re offering – it was a hit!

This year we took to Periscope – a live video streaming service – to give those who couldn’t attend the opportunity to see our launches live. We’ll be using Periscope again for the upcoming Canadian International Autoshow in Toronto – keep an eye out.

As fans, followers and Volkswagen drivers, we wanted to take you behind the scenes to see first-hand what goes into making a commercial for the cars we know and love.

From watching our commercials, you can see that we approach ad making differently from the other guys. Here at Volkswagen, we want to tell stories about our drivers and cars that are relatable and also resonate with our audiences.  To us, it’s not just about what goes into the car, it’s also about who’s in and who will be in our cars.
